The project’s central aim was to create a nurturing environment for an infirm family member, striking a delicate balance between proximity and independence. This garage conversion represented more than just a structural change; it embodied the homeowner’s deep commitment to supporting her loved one while respecting their need for autonomy. The existing garage, typically a space reserved for vehicles and storage, was now poised to become a sanctuary of comfort and accessibility.
Our team embraced this meaningful project, recognising the profound impact it would have on the family’s life. The conversion required careful planning to maximise the available space, ensuring it would meet all the needs of its future resident. We focused on creating a barrier-free design with wider doorways, a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, and strategically placed support features. The layout was optimised to include a sleeping area, a small kitchenette, and a living space, all designed to promote ease of movement and independence.
Additionally, we incorporated elements to make the space feel warm and inviting, moving away from the utilitarian feel of a garage to create a true home. This project not only showcased our technical skills in renovation but also our ability to empathise with clients and translate their emotional needs into practical, life-enhancing solutions.
